Field Trip Report for Saturday, November 27th, 2004 (Logan Sewage Lagoons)

left to right: FOOL HARDY BIRDERS; our diehard birding friends from SLC, Jean and Ray.
With the snow flying and temps dipping, seven hardcore birders showed up for the field trip to Logans wonderful sewage lagoons.
Highlights of the day (other than the much needed snow), was a lone Spotted Sandpiper, bouncing and flying along the banks
of the first sewage pond. We saw large rafts of Northern Shovelers, Gadwalls, Ruddy Ducks and California and Ring-billed Gull. The other highlight bird that we saw was a single juvenile Herring Gull, keeping company with the the Ring-billeds. There were quite a few
Eared Grebes and a large contingent of Common Golden-eyes. There was also a Northern Harrier buzzing the waterfowl and a nice
looking Great Blue Heron making the scene.
